Itinerary
Day 1 Thu. Fly to Vienna.
Board your Austrian Airlines flight to Vienna, arriving early the next morning.
EXCLUSIVE VIENNA CITY STAY
Day 2 Fri. Arrive Vienna.
Upon arrival in Vienna you will be met by your APT Tour Director and transferred to your centrally located hotel. The afternoon is at leisure before tonight’s Welcome Reception.
Two Night Stay: Vienna, Intercontinental or similar.
Day 3 Sat. Schönbrunn Palace.
This morning, join an excursion to magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, the summer residence of the Habsburgs, where Mozart performed for Empress Maria Teresia at the tender age of six. We explore the Palace on a guided tour, then return to the city for an afternoon at leisure. Tonight sample Viennese delicacies at a local restaurant.

Day 4 Sun. Vienna – Amsterdam.
Transfer to the airport today for your flight to Amsterdam. Your elegant river cruise ship ms Amadagio is moored near the city centre. Meet your fellow cruise passengers tonight at the Welcome Cocktail Reception. After dinner, relax in the lounge or take in Amsterdam’s nightlife.

Day 5 Mon. Amsterdam.
After breakfast, admire the architecture of the city on a guided canal boat tour. Enjoy free time before departing Amsterdam around lunch. There is an afternoon information briefing as you cruise towards Germany. Tonight you’ll be a guest at the Captain’s Gala Welcome Dinner.

Day 6 Tue. Cologne – Koblenz.
Arrive in Cologne for a walking tour through the old part of the city. At lunchtime, continue to 2,000-year old Koblenz, where you enjoy an after-dinner city walk.

Day 7 Wed. Mainz.
Today, sail through the Rhine Gorge, the most beautiful stretch of the river, passing castle after castle. See the legendary Lorelei Rock, where sweet songs of local beauties lured enchanted sailors to their doom. Arrive in Mainz after lunch and enjoy a walking tour of this beautiful town, famous as the home of Gutenberg. There is free time to explore before the ship sails late afternoon.

Day 8 Thu. Miltenberg – Wertheim.
Arrive in Miltenberg and disembark for a morning walking tour of this delightful old Franconian town. Shop for souvenirs before travelling to Wertheim, where we witness a glass-blowing performance before re-boarding the ship. Relax while you cruise through the sunny valleys of the meandering Main.

Day 9 Fri. Würzburg.
After a morning filled with beautiful Main River scenery, you’ll be romanced by Würzburg. During your tour, see the major sights including the magnificent Residential Palace. This afternoon explore Würzburg on your own or take an optional excursion to medieval Rothenburg, a beautiful walled city situated on the Romantic Road. Late this afternoon cruise to Bamberg.

Day 10 Sat. Bamberg.
We enter the Main-Danube Canal at enchanting Bamberg, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Disembark for a guided tour of this medieval gem and marvel at the Old Town Hall, which straddles the river, and the city’s serpentine streets with charming houses and 18th century mansions. Continue along the Main-Danube Canal to ancient Nuremberg, capital of Franconia.

Day 11 Sun. Nuremberg – Continental Divide.
Enjoy a guided morning tour of this historic city. See the storybook 900-year-old ramparts that surround the city, the Imperial Castle and the Justice Palace where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946. At lunchtime, continue to transit the Main-Danube Canal as you arrive at the highest point of your cruise – 435 metres above sea level – before descending through stair-step locks.

Day 12 Mon. Regensburg.
This morning takes you through the final stretch of the Main-Danube Canal. Visit Regensburg, one of Germany’s best preserved medieval cities. A guided tour will show you the city’s highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Pretoria – gates to a Roman fort built in 179 AD.

Day 13 Tue. Passau – Salzburg Excursion – Linz.
After breakfast, arrive in picturesque Passau, from where we take an included full day tour to Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace. Visit exquisite Mirabell Gardens, the Great Salzburg Festival Hall and see the house where Mozart was born. Later in the afternoon continue to the charming Lakes District and its most popular Sound of Music sights including the Wedding Church. We rejoin the ship in Linz. After dinner, perhaps take a walk through this delightful town, Austria’s third largest city and a major river port.

Day 14 Wed. Melk – Dürnstein – Krems.
Reach the Wachau Valley this morning. A guided tour takes you to Melk’s magnificent Benedictine Abbey, one of Europe’s largest baroque monasteries. From here, continue on a short cruise to Dürnstein. Marvel at the blue Baroque Stiftskirche. Above town you’ll spot the ruins of the castle where Richard the Lionheart, the King of England, was imprisoned in 1192. Your walking tour through cobblestone streets reveals quaint 16th century town houses and taverns. Continue through the lovely Wachau Valley, dotted with castles, to the riverside town of Krems, centre of the Wachau wine industry, which you will sample tonight.

Day 15 Thu. Vienna.
A wonderful day to savour the baroque elegance of Vienna. A guided sightseeing tour includes Hofburg Palace, the Vienna Opera House, Ringstrasse and St Stephen’s Cathedral. Enjoy a free afternoon to stroll along the main shopping street, Kärntnerstrasse, or sample some of Vienna’s famous pastries. Tonight explore the vibrant Austrian capital on your own, or come along for an optional Mozart and Strauss concert.

Day 16 Fri. Vienna – Bratislava.
After a free morning in Vienna, cruise to Bratislava and enjoy a tour revealing the city’s major sights, including the Old Town Hall, Mirbach Palace and Gothic St Martin’s Cathedral. From Bratislava Castle, you will enjoy breathtaking views overlooking Slovakia, Austria and Hungary. Tonight enjoy an evening music performance on board.

Day 17 Sat. Budapest
This morning is free for last minute shopping. After lunch, our city tour includes historic Buda Castle, with splendid views of the twin cities of Buda and Pest spread over both banks of the River. Your tour also features distinctive Fisherman’s Bastion, the marvellous Royal Palace, St Stephen’s Basilica and much more. Tonight enjoy a Gala Farewell Dinner with Gypsy violinists.
