✈️ Malaysia Airlines’ Brand-New A330neo Takes Off on Sydney/Melbourne–Kuala Lumpur Route

Malaysia Airlines has officially kicked off A330neo flights between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur – and it’s just the beginning of a major fleet upgrade across Australia.

From today, lucky passengers out of Sydney will experience the airline’s sleek, next-generation A330neo. These modern jets will gradually replace older aircraft on all three daily Sydney services, with full rollout completed by November 29.

✈️ Here are the flight numbers operated by the Airbus A330neo between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur:

SYD → KULKUL → SYD
MH 122MH 141

And it’s not just Sydney. Melbourne is already enjoying the A330neo, with the cutting-edge aircraft now flying daily to Kuala Lumpur.

✈️ All listed flights below between Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur are now operated by the Airbus A330neo.

MEL → KULKUL → MEL
MH 128MH 129
MH 146MH 147
MH 148MH 149

And there’s more to come — Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth are next in line, with the A330neo expected to begin service to those cities by early 2026.

The A330neo marks a new era for Malaysia Airlines, combining advanced fuel efficiency with a luxury cabin redesign. The airline has doubled its order from 20 to 40 of the aircraft to power its regional and long-haul routes for the future.

✨ What’s New Onboard?

The A330neo is a game-changer in comfort and technology. In Business Class, passengers can expect:

  • Private suites with sliding doors
  • Massive 17.3" 4K screens
  • Bluetooth audio streaming
  • Fast, free Wi-Fi
  • USB-C ports and wireless charging

🛫 Why Now?

The launch comes as air traffic rights expand between Australia and Malaysia, giving airlines more freedom to meet booming demand.

“With a third daily flight and a brand-new aircraft, we’re offering more seats on the Kuala Lumpur route to meet strong demand," said Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton.

And there’s more good news: Malaysia Airlines will resume Brisbane–Kuala Lumpur flights from November 29, operating five times a week.

“Australia is a very important market for us," said Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer. “Australians love Malaysia, and we are also seeing more passengers connecting through Kuala Lumpur to other destinations."

While the A350 will remain on ultra-long-haul routes like London and Paris, the A330neo will become the airline’s new regional flagship.
