Itinerary
Luxury Peru with Belmond
7 nights: Lima – Cusco – Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu
Day 1: Lima
Upon arrival in Lima, you will meet and transferred to the Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel.
Day 2: Lima
Enjoy an excursion to the historic centre of Lima, “the City of the Kings” and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. You will stop at the Main Square and visit its principal landmarks; after that, it is off to the Santo Domingo Convent, a 16th-century architectural masterpiece. Later, you will continue the tour to the city’s modern sectors: the exclusive district of San Isidro, Lima’s new financial centre, and Miraflores, with a stop at the “Parque del Amor” (a sort of lover’s lane) and its incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. Next stop is the Larco Museum, whose specially selected private collection shows more than 3000 years of Pre-Columbian history. The day ends with a dinner of delicious Peruvian food at the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant, located next to the archaeological complex of the same name.

Day 3: Linma – Cuzco
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cuzco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Belmond Monasterio Hotel Cuzco.
Day 4: Cuzco
This afternoon, take a tour of Cuzco to enjoy the amazing Colonial centre, an inheritance from its Andean and Hispanic past as well as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Two of the city’s famous landmarks are on the schedule, as well: the Korikancha, or “Temple of the Sun, and the Cathedral, home to finely carved wooden art pieces and impressive altars. The tour continues to Sacsayhuaman, an Incan fort constructed from menhirs that guarded the Imperial city. There are three other important archaeological sites, not far at all from the city, that you will visit: Qenko, Tambomachay, and Puca Pucara.

Day 5: Cuzco – Sacred Valley
Today begins your journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. First stop is the Pisac Market, in which you will see the truest reflection of our Andean roots. Teeming with colours and tradition, it has turned into the place to be for purchasing handicrafts, silver jewellery, alpaca clothing and accessories, and locally made pottery. Afterwards, you will make a stop at Ollantaytambo, a typical small town in the Andes that has hardly changed since the time of the Incas, boasting narrow streets and canals of rushing fresh water. Another attraction is the Ollantaytambo Fortress, an archaeological complex with terraced hillsides and stone walls carved only as the Incas could. You will be transferred to the Belmond Rio Sagrado Hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 6: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu
Today is a special day: you will visit one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a World Cultural Heritage Site: the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. You will ride the Hiram Bingham to the archeological site, a train that the prestigious tourism magazine Condé Nast Traveller calls the best in the world. Its service, comfort, luxury, and ambience are first rate: a gourmet menu inspired by Peruvian flavours, elegant berths, and shows featuring local dances. The long train ride ends at the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will disembark and ascend by bus to Machu Picchu. Once there, you will explore the site and marvel at its splendour. Your overnight stay will be at the only hotel located at Machu Picchu itself, the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge.
Day 7: Machu Pichu – Cuzco
Return by train aboard the Hiram Bingham to Cuzco where your overnight stay will be at the Belmond Hotel Palacio Nazarenes.

Your Luxury Peru experience ends today after breakfast when you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
