Hillside Villa

Stylish Hillside Villas are located just a couple of minutes stroll from the restaurant, bar, swimming pool and beach. The interior is island chic and very functional, with contemporary furnishings. Villas feature privacy curtains between the bed and the lounge area and a dressing room at the rear of each villa. Large bathrooms feature free-standing bathtubs and walk-in shower. The villas located higher on the hillside pathway feature stunning views over the ocean and island, whilst the lower Hillside Villas afford pleasant garden views.

Beachside Villa

Located only steps away from the beachfront, Beachfront Villas are VOMO’s most popular accommodation. Villas have dressing rooms at the rear of each villa, privacy curtains to separate the bed from the lounge area and very large bathrooms with free-standing bathtub and walk in shower. Your Villa opens onto a deck with personal sun loungers and vistas of the palm-fringed beach.

Beachfront Retreat

Beachfront Villa-style accommodation with a stunning ocean as your plunge pool.  Featuring a large verandah to the side and front of the villa and outdoor luxury bathing tub and shower. The interior has a large bathroom featuring walk-in shower, twin basins, toilet and walk-in wardrobe. They are ideal for families of up to five people. One king bed and one single divan feature in the villa, with room for additional rollaway beds or cot for a child or infant if required. This villa type also interconnects with another Beachfront Retreat, making it the perfect solution for a large family requiring two interconnecting villas to accommodate a maximum of 10 persons across the two villas.

Beachfront Haven

Beachfront Havens have the same interior fittings and amenities as Beachfront Villas, are located on the beachfront and are a free-standing dwelling with no adjoining neighbour.

The Vomo Islands are made up of VOMO and the tiny island of Vomo Lailai. VOMO offers the only island resort on these stunning islands and is one of the most luxurious resorts in Fiji. As one of the largest and most beautiful islands in Fiji, VOMO is never crowded. It is fringed with long white sand beaches on both sides of the island, plus several other small beaches, enabling you to always find your own little spot in paradise. The resort’s culture is based around pure and simple virtues. Vomo Island Resort is a picture-perfect paradise – a haven for the discerning traveller –  and offers unique, luxurious facilities and recreational activities. The primary focus is on providing the best possible service to each and every guest.

Activities

Non motorised water activities including snorkelling are included in the daily rates.  The snorkelling around VOMO is exceptional and can be accessed directly from the beach.  Guests may also join the daily escorted snorkel safari with qualified instructors and visit numerous great sites near to our two islands of VOMO and Vomo Lailai.  The beaches are protected by an outer reef, making it a great environment for swimming or snorkelling throughout the day. Complimentary Water Sports include:

• Hobie Cat sailing
• Windsurfing
• Snorkelling equipment and snorkel safaris

All guests are encouraged walk or run the trail to the summit of Mt Vomo.  It is a short steep walk of around 15 minutes to the summit.

There are around 5km or 3 miles of beaches that encircle VOMO.  To circumnavigate the entire island, takes around 1 to 1.5 hours.  Along the way you will find numerous deserted beaches, rocky outcrops and beautiful swimming spots.

VOMO offers a fun 9 hole pitch and putt golf course for everyone to use without charge.  The resort has a few sets of golf clubs for both adults and children that are complimentary to hire.

The floodlit tennis court is available for guest use at any time without charge.  A selection of racquets and balls are available at reception.  There’s also a basketball hoop at one end of the court, for those who want to practice their shooting.

The Gym is located adjacent to Spa in the middle of the island, next to the golf course.  This air-conditioned facility houses a cross trainer, walking machine, stationery cycle machines, free weights and pull down weights.  The air conditioned gym is open 24 hours with complimentary access for all guests.

Fishing

The waters around VOMO offer a rich variety of fish species, from giant trevally, spanish mackerel and coral trout, all of which can be encountered throughout the year. The art of fishing, reading the tides, feeding times and breeding patterns is ingrained within the Fijian culture and our passionate team at Ocean Play are well versed in all species around VOMO and further adrift.

Troll and casting around VOMO or learn the local tradition of hand line fishing. Hand line fishing is a great family experience and a great opportunity to introduce children to the joy of fishing. With our experienced crew, even the most novice fisherman can be confident of catching that once in a lifetime fish.

During the cooler months of May to September where the water temperatures drop to around 23 – 26 degrees celsius, you can experience the best fishing VOMO has to offer. From large spanish mackerel around VOMO, to the great fighting fish, the giant trevally, or even the lesser known mackerel tuna, the cooler waters allow for greater fishing windows to catch that prized fish.

During the warmer months of October to April, the water temperatures can reach as high as 30 degrees celsius, the fish swim deep to cooler waters allowing the art and skill of fishing to shine through. Alongside the local residents of VOMO including giant trevally, spanish mackerel, coral trouts and snappers, an early morning or late evening fish can see you experience the speed of the Barracuda or schools of mahi mahi feeding on flying fish.

VOMO has a strict ‘catch & release’ policy for all non-pelagic species. Our team will ensure you capture a photo with your bounty before its released back into the ocean.

Ensuring our fishing does not impact future generations, some pelagic species will be released back into the ocean during breeding seasons.

Day Trips

When you’ve done with luxurious lazing on the sun lounge and your adventurous spirit stirs within, ask the VOMO family about the off island trips available.

Whether it’s surfing, fishing, outer reef snorkelling, scuba diving, visits to caves or a surreal experience with Cloud 9 there’s an adventure for every day of your stay.  For an awesome excursion, only between May and October, we have access to snorkelling with Manta Rays in the Yasawa Islands.

Many guests love a visit to a local village which includes a cultural tour and local shopping, plus the opportunity to participate in our Pack For A Purpose initiative, donating goods to the local Fijian people in the villages.

Our Vomo Lailai day picnic to our little sister island across the way is always enjoyed.  You’ll have an entire island to yourselves.  Just you, some sun loungers, a gourmet picnic and a two way radio, to call when you want to be rescued.

Cuisine

Vomo Island Resort is specially recognised for its diverse menu. Succulent meats and the freshest of fruit and vegetables are imported from Australia and NZ. However, our award-winning chef creatively uses local produce at every opportunity, presenting mouth-watering flavours combining the pacific rim and pacific island cuisine. Vegetables and herbs are even picked from Vomo’s own organic garden on the island and seafood is in abundance!!

To further enhance the flavours of the Vomo cuisine, we understand how important it is to match superb food with exceptional wine. Vomo Island Resort has specifically designed the wine list to suit each and every menu option and we can assure you that you will enjoy choosing from some of the best wines and champagnes on offer. With the Fijian tropical climate in mind, there are of course, our irresistible refreshing cocktails to suit every palette!
